What is an exorcist?
We are those who devote our lives to the service of others, we seek no recognition nor glory, we only seek the safety and well being of those who need our help. To walk the road of the exorcist is a lonely road, it is difficult on this path to have a family, friends. Naturally all who you love become targets to those that would see you felled.
An exorcist like me, is one who has successfully learned battle magic in addition to other schools and does battle with the dark and demonic for the sake of those who cannot defend themselves. The demonic manifest as spirits or possessions, (the latter being significantly rarer) but they also influence events and groups of people, some have even been known to influence weather patterns and micro-biology.
Being an exorcist is a 24 hour job, you are always on duty and must never turn away someone who asks for your help, regardless whether they be friend or foe. Such ties left as soon as the path was stepped on.
At the end of the day, the Exorcist stands and fights the Darkness from the shadows, where people do not see, let alone know of. We fight the darkness so others can live in peace, our only compensation is the gratitude from those we help. We carry a heavy burden and we take the pain so others are spared it, I cannot say what motivates people to become exorcists, everyone is different. Some among us were born as exorcists, with latent ability of battle magic, other decided for whatever reasons to pursue this path.
Regardless, this path once walked, cannot be un-walked. Once one fights the Dark and Demonic, one cannot stop fighting them, if one does not face them in the shadows then one will be faced by them on their front door.
The Exorcist is relentless in his/her duties, and will pursue the Dark and Demonic that seeks to cause harm relentlessly until his/her last breath.
That is the Exorcist.
